Spring Northern Lights Package

Follow us on Twitter and Facebook!
This package provides the best of Alaska's winter activities with the opportunity to view the famed Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis).  Many of our guests choose to coordinate their northern lights visit with winter events such as the start of the world famous Iditarod Sled Dog Race.  Our spring package brings together premiere winter events with fantastic daytime activities, superior accommodations and prime opportunities to see the northern lights every night.

The Spring Northern Lights Package is available from November through March.

Day 1: Today you arrive in Anchorage. You will pick up a rental car for your time here in Alaska. You'll spend the night this evening at a wonderful bed and breakfast in Anchorage.

Day 2: Today you have the day to explore Anchorage. Take a horse-drawn sleigh ride along Anchorage's Hillside. In the late afternoon, head north to Talkeetna, where you'll spend the night at a great inn, overlooking Mount McKinley and the Susitna Valley. (Watch for the northern lights this evening)

Day 3: Today you'll take off for a flight to the face of North America's tallest mountain, Mt. McKinley, the crown jewel of Denali National Park. You'll fly right up to the mountain itself, and see the spectacular granite spires and massive glaciers that flow from the peak. This has been called a once-in-a-lifetime experience by many of our guests. After your flight, take some time in Talkeetna, or return to your inn and take in the spectacular scenery and relax. (Watch for the northern lights this evening)

Day 4: Today you'll head north to Fairbanks. When you arrive, head over to the International Ice Art Championships, where artists from all over the world come to sculpt large blocks of ice into incredible forms. This evening you'll spend the night at a delightful bed and breakfast  in Fairbanks. (Watch for the northern lights this evening)

Day 5: Today you'll start a three day dog sledding adventure. You'll spend the day with a guide learning about dog mushing and all of the basics about driving a dog sled. After your very full day with the dogs, you'll return to your bed and breakfast in Fairbanks. (Watch for the northern lights this evening)

Day 6: Today you head down the trail with the guide for your second day of adventure. You'll drive the dogs all day, and spend the night on the trail. (Watch for the northern lights this evening)

Day 7: Today you head back to Fairbanks by dog sled on the third day of your adventure. After another very full day, you'll return to your bed and breakfast in Fairbanks.

Day 8: Today you'll have a day for yourself in Fairbanks. We have a couple suggestions for your day -- You could visit Chena Hot Springs and soak in the hot springs and Jacuzzis there. This is a 60 mile drive from Fairbanks. You could also take some more time at the World Ice Art Championship. You return to your bed and breakfast in Fairbanks.

Day 9: Today you head back to Anchorage by road. This is a full day drive (about 7 hours) so start early on your way back. When you arrive in Anchorage, you'll spend the night at a nice bed and breakfast.

Day 10: Today you head back home.
